When I was in school I thought my typography teacher was pure evil for having us hand letter the alphabet over and over until we got our kerning and serifs perfectly nailed down. Years later, I now understand and greatly appreciate what he was teaching us. Brooklyn based designer Dana Tanamachi has a collection of [...]

ALPHABLOKS – Motion Typography from Colin Evoy Sebestyen on Vimeo.
This project was assigned and created by professor Colin Evoy Sebestyen as a motion graphics challenge at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. I like that he takes part in the projects that he assigns to his students, seems to be a very collaborative approach to [...]

I really love the graphic design coming from designer Mark Brooks and the Barcelona based clothing brand ‘Santa Monica’. They’ve opened up a few pop-up stores around Barcelona and have a bunch of their t-shirts available via the site link below. Nice + clean.

If you have a second to spare today and you enjoy retro-classic illustration and typography, you should check out Belgium based designer Veerle Pieters’s ‘inspiration stream’. She’s taken the time to curate a nice collection of retro-kitche works by various designers and artists. Her entire site is a great place to click around for inspiration.

My buddy Jamey Erickson is always up to something interesting and fun. Whether launching weather balloons to take pictures of the outer stratosphere, prepping for his next outrageous Halloween costume (I’ll spare you the visuals) or just coming up with interesting ways to make his Minneapolis based design studio Sevnthsin an inspiring place to work… he’s bubbling [...]

I remember seeing one of these beautiful IBM ads in the New York Times earlier in the year but I had no idea where they were coming from or who created them, until today when I happened upon them on Behance. The illustrations were created by Vienna, Austria based David Mascha. He focuses on Art, illustration, [...]

I really like Marco Puccini’s overall style, super modern and perfectly on-trend with a nice overlay of texture and distress that gives each piece a vintage quality. His Tumblr blog is full of really nice design, type and illustration to gain inspiration from. I also like that his portfolio site is pretty much a straight-up [...]

Christoph Ruprecht is a creative director from Germany with some serious chops in graphic art/design and typography. His works transcend the bounds of print design and extend into the realm of fine art. Much of his graphic design reminds me of works by the great surrealists Miro, Dali and Tanguy. You’ll have to check out [...]

This week was kind of an interesting week in type design. After watching Gap inc completely flop the introduction of a wildly new and obscenely corporate logo for themselves -> check out some of the backlash: http://craplogo.me/ – http://www.qbn.com/topics/642743/ …pretty amazing. You wonder how these things can happen when there are so many well designed typeface options out [...]

These pop-up designs created for RENFE’s (Spanish National Rail Network) new fleet of trains, by artist and designer Lele Gestoso Saa are pretty incredible and extremely entertaining to look over. I posted a little over a year ago about some of her designs under the creative group name called ‘Serial Cut’ but I had not seen [...]
