realtime projection mapping -> Sony PS3

The above images are out-takes from the production of an interactive projection mapping viral for Sony Playstation. The whole story was shot in one take and in one room with an impressive amount of supporting characters in seamless white suits to help assist with the overal effect. Pretty cool concept, pushing the bounds of what projection mapping is capable of. Have a look below.

“Love and Light” video aims to explore the relation between a musician and filmmaker and their personal reflection on memories. From Pedro Maia’s super 8 home movies archive, this video results from the work in the dark room using analogue means of light manipulation of the film in attempted to don’t allow us to forget the materials. Here are elusive shadows, the delicate materials turning and strobing and shaking as if to emphasize the fragility of the look, the fragility of these family films compacts have come apart at last, and in their dissolution, in the dying moments of their foreclosure and abandonment, these pictures have been left behind.”

Adobe’s nicely designed ‘The Expressive Web’ beta site is meant to showcase the capabilities and seemingly unlimited potential for designers and developers using HTML5 and Adobe CSS3. New functionality includes dynamic drop shadows, impressive motion and transition control, more control with color and gradients… and a nifty canvas element that let’s you control it all via-JavaScript. Things are about to get interesting, once again. Can’t wait to try some of this stuff out.

Atelier Olschinsky -> Creative Studio

His stop motion animations are pretty mind blowing and strike true with me because of the nostalgia that comes with his use of Legos and Matchbox cars. Staple toys of my youth. Oregon Manifest -> Collaborative Bicycle Design Challenge

A friend of mine (thnx! @catoosha) recently turned me on to the Oregon Manifest collaborative utility bicycle design contest. What a great venue to bring together some of the most innovative and accomplished design minds in the business. The results are pretty inspiring and impressive.

“Journey into the backwoods of Oregon with Eric Singer and crew to construct a community hideaway in the trees. The over sized nest is intended to inspire others to make the trek into the woods surrounding Mt. Hood. Those who successfully locate the fort are encouraged to add onto the structure and share with others. The first person to discover the nest will be greeted with a free pair of sunglasses stashed inside! Happy hunting…”

Emulator 1.5 -> Audio Interface

I really dig this new digital audio interface called Emulator 1.5, designed for Traktor 2. The ‘tronish lightscreen’ interface feels super clean and something of a circa 1980s sci-fi throwback. In a very good way. I’m usually not a fan of too many interface colors competing for a user’s attention, but this execution demands it, and pulls it off. More vids and info beyond the link.

NYC based photographer Steph Goralnick never fails to impress with her ability to capture seasonal events in a robust way. The photos above from a recent Summer camping/rafting trip are totally fun. Here in Seattle, we’ve been lucky to even approach 80°, so these images really make me long for Summer. I last posted in regard to her work last winter when NYC was hit with extreme wintry weather. The Porsche headlight Polaroid series above, called ‘Pantone Porsche’ is one of the best things that I’ve seen today while browsing my Tumblr dashboard. Emmanuel Delaby’s Flickr stream is filled with interesting moments and terrific autos, all captured and thoughtfully enhanced with filters and various applications. Makes for a fun browse.

Telenoika -> Audiovisual Mapping

Yet another magically innovative example of archetectural video mapping, created by with 2D video composition software and 3D modeling software. The amazing motion graphics were projected with a 20k video beamer at 1920×1080 at the Kernel Festival in Northern Italy (Brianza to be exact). Very much worth the view. I’d love to check out this festival.
