Notes from Site:

“In this crystalline form everything is made of the multitude – the splendors of Versailles, the rearing stallion and other distractions or ambitions. A curious history restlessly shifting, its charged particles and reflections dissolving into a universal something. Its mystical alignment ordered by instinct or impulse where themes emerge through incoherent leaps and the vague impressions of something more about to appear or having just faded.”

Notes from Behance:

“The experimental typeface Raster is based on a 3×4 grid. That’s also where its name comes from as “Raster” means “grid” in german.

The typeface is designed for headline purposes. The goal was to create an interesting, geometric look where the decorative elements don’t cut on the readability of the slogan/header/.. you want to create.”

Book and paper artist Ryuta Iida and artist Yoshihisa Tanaka have partnered to create these amazing timelapse portraits that have been cut and sliced to reveal the subtle changes that occur as time passes us by. The works above are just a few selects from a larger collection called ‘Misunderstanding Focus’. It’s interesting how some of these portraits appear to take on a slight motion, like waves captured as the exposure took place. Overall, an innovative technique.
It’s never too late to say happy new year, well, maybe April is too late. Regardless, I really enjoy the overall vibe of this ‘Happy New Year’ video produced by ‘Hello Stranger’. The timelapse fwd and back, fireworks and zippy soundtrack make this a fun view, any time of the year.

Notes from Vimeo:

“Love and Light” video aims to explore the relation between a musician and filmmaker and their personal reflection on memories. From Pedro Maia’s super 8 home movies archive, this video results from the work in the dark room using analogue means of light manipulation of the film in attempted to don’t allow us to forget the materials. Here are elusive shadows, the delicate materials turning and strobing and shaking as if to emphasize the fragility of the look, the fragility of these family films compacts have come apart at last, and in their dissolution, in the dying moments of their foreclosure and abandonment, these pictures have been left behind.”

“A friend of mine, Grant Harold, sent me a song he wrote for Chrismas this year, and I liked its simple message. So I rang my friend Nathan Deceasar and asked if he wanted to join me in turning it into a card for friends. Grant and Nathan and I call our little trio “Group Hug”. I hope these holidays have been a time that you’ve gotten to share with people you love.”

Adobe’s nicely designed ‘The Expressive Web’ beta site is meant to showcase the capabilities and seemingly unlimited potential for designers and developers using HTML5 and Adobe CSS3. New functionality includes dynamic drop shadows, impressive motion and transition control, more control with color and gradients… and a nifty canvas element that let’s you control it all via-JavaScript. Things are about to get interesting, once again. Can’t wait to try some of this stuff out.

Design and artist duo Peter Olschinsky and Verena Weiss are based in Vienna, Austria. Their site is full of amazing examples of graphic design, illustration and photography. I really dig the above photos for their post processing and color work. There’s so much more to see on their portfolio site.

A friend of mine at work turned me on to Poler Outdoor Brand today …very cool and clever collection of outdoor products and clothing. I like the simple honest presentation of the brand. Have a look.
