Instead of going out and finding these spaces in real life she meticulously renders each one as a three dimensional model, and then beautifully photographs them. Well, I took some time off around Labor Day, saw some bands at ‘Bumbershoot‘, the [...] I thought the above in-flight turbo prop pictures taken by Jason Mullins with his iPhone 4 were pretty amazing, and at first I had thought maybe they were an odd Photoshop experiment of some kind. As it turns out, it’s a photographic phenomenon/effect called ‘rolling shutter’ that occurs when an image is scanned either from top [...] I’m finding a ton of amazing things on Flickr lately. The above shots are vintage photos taken by Des Moines based Photographer Phil Roeder’s father (possibly with a Zeiss Ikon Contessa from what I’ve gathered from his Flickr page) while travelling Hong Kong and Macau in the 1950s. Wonderful retro coloring and contrast along with the fact [...] These shots by Kevin Saint Grey are beautifully captured and pretty much mind blowing. Taken with a Canon 40D by using some pretty interesting panning techniques that I don’t fully understand, his images become surreal and abstract works of art. I love these examples for their clean lines and bold color, he’s got some other [...] The photography by California based Cole Rise (flickr name: Antimethod) is inspiring, to say the least. Shot primarily with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II his sensibility to light, texture and landscape is impeccable, taking everyday scenery, applying his technique and artistry and making it something so much more epic. Be sure to check out [...] These stunning photographic images by Lieven Dirckx remind me of the rich, deep, luminescent ‘old master’ oil paintings that I’ve spent time in front of, with jaw dropped, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The works by Rembrandt in particular come to mind… Only, these images venture into a very surreal and dreamlike place and [...] Last weekend I caught myself taking another randomly found mannequin photo while walking around the Fremont Sunday outdoor market (the top black and white image). Over time I’ve accumulated a few these mannequin shots, so I’ve decided to create a little Flickr photo set of them that I hope to expand upon.
