I recently purchased this nice new Google analytics visualizer called ‘Audience’ for 99¢ in the appstore. It’s well designed and there are some nice color transitions that occur while looking over your data. Kind of refreshing in comparison to all of the other less designed options that are available.

Since I traded in the old iPhone 3gs for the new iPhone 4s, my photo taking productivity has increased significantly. That’s the good thing. The bad thing is that my photo taking productivity has increased significantly and I haven’t touched my Canon 7D in weeks! I’ve found that the new 8MP camera and optics have really made this device less of a mobile phone, and more of a handy mobile camera, for me. It’s a fantastically efficient and easy to use app that generates a very nice tilt-shift effect on your iphone pics. A great photo tool to add to all your other favs. Hopefully the designers of photoshop and lightroom are taking notes on this functionality…

Whether launching weather balloons to take pictures of the outer stratosphere, prepping for his next outrageous Halloween costume (I’ll spare you the visuals) or just coming up with interesting ways to make his Minneapolis based design studio Sevnthsin an inspiring place to work… he’s bubbling with passion for sure.

His latest experiment at Sevnthsin is called ‘Distance Makes No Difference‘, where he and his team have dispersed from the studio for ten days, all to work and keep up with their heavy client demands from separate locations across the country. Why? I’ve been keeping a simple posterous iPhone pic blog for a while now. I like to post all the random day-to-day stuff that I come across, recently I’ve been posting sound clips from my guitar practice sessions as well… all in good fun. Those are three of my latest shots above. Lately my pic uploads have exploded because of my use of the ‘Hipstamatic’ iPhone app. If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s super fun and well designed, comes with different lenses, border sets and upgrades. It may be the hottest thing since the old Lomo style camera. For real. If you’re an iPhone user, you should definitely check it out.

Being a new resident of the pacific northwest, I’ve started to discover a number of interesting cultural subtleties that are different from the east coast and the midwest where I have lived in the past. One of the little granular details that has caught my eye is the local love for the mini camper van. In my Seattle neighborhood of Queen Anne you can find these vans sprinkled along the side streets in surprising numbers. I would say that in most Seattle neighborhoods they are a pretty common sight. With all the beautiful wilderness to explore in the Pac NW it makes perfect sense as to why there are so many camper vans around. I like them, I think they add a lot of character to the area and I plan to shoot as many of them as I come across in hope of building up a decent collection. I’ll keep posting them to my iPhone pic posterous site, enjoy.

What makes it “disposable” is that you can connect temporarily with the people around you and carry on social interactions such as content sharing and other common activities like voting, chat, flirting, debating… broadcasting yourself in general. Perfect for sports events, conferences, concerts and other gatherings that hold a large number of people within close proximity. The best part is that when the event is over, you can walk away without feeling the need to keep up with everyone you just met, like leaving a party and maybe you kept a couple of phone numbers. This concept seems to carry a lot of potential and I’m sure we’ll see a lot of these apps pop up in the next couple of years. Rumor has it that Apple is working a similar social net called iGroups as well, that functions kind of like a ‘walkie-talkie’.

This is a smart campaign coming from New Balance. Tagging on to the whole ‘Lifetracking 365′ trend, they’ll be posting daily content for an entire year for people to check in and check out. I’m totally aware of what a huge undertaking this will be for them after watching my wife go through her own 365 project last year on Flickr. It’s not easy to come up with interesting stuff day after day, I’m guessing a lot of it won’t be that earth shattering… but I like the stickiness here, and at the end of the day it becomes a rich year long campaign that surfaces new product for New Balance. People will most likely check back on it much more often than any other typical year long corporate campaign. + They also make it easy to follow with the iPhone app extension… kinda the cherry on top.
