I thought this well-filmed video and the actual idea of enhancing one’s bike with an automatic rainbow generating machine was pretty clever. I love that there are people out there spending time building things like this, reminds me a bit of Nike’s Chalk Bot. Makes for a fun view.

Interaction designers have their work cut out for themselves these days, for sure. We’ve got a multitude of iPads, tablets, E-Readers, a bazillion different mobile phone devices, internet TV and many other untapped experimental multimodel, voice and gestural interactions to think about and design interfaces for. In addition to all of that, there’s this intriguing projection based interface called ‘Skinput’, ideated by Chris Harrison. I love this concept mostly for that fact that it’s NOT another screen that I have to carry around with me. I love it for the fact that it’s a more sanitary interface, especially for public ATMs and Kiosks. I love that it’s so much more of a sustainable interface, in that it re-uses a nifty hi-tech preexisting surface that we always carry with us, our skin! There’s so many reasons to explore this direction… very inspiring. Check out the video below.

I have become incredibly inspired by Kevin Cooley’s ‘Light’s Edge’ photo collection. Kevin Cooley is a Brooklyn based photographer and video artist who often collaborates with the talented photographer Bridget Batch. He beautifully captures obscure lighting events in places of dramatic scenery and isolation that to me, seem alien and otherworldly. Myself being fascinated with long exposure night photography, I find that his subject matter and experimental works open up my mind to new ideas and possibilities that I have not yet considered. I saw a lot of interesting Halloween costumes and masks this year but nothing as innovative and cerebral as this ‘Papercraft Self Portrait’ mask designed rendered and produced by Vancouver based game industry guru Eric Testroete. Basically, he’s mapped his enlarged picture to a CGI wireframe mesh and exported the final image with perfed lines [...]]]>

Basically, he’s mapped his enlarged picture to a CGI wireframe mesh and exported the final image with perfed lines as guides to fold along to make the whole thing 3D again.
