Nice video documentary on street art vs. graffiti. Lot’s of candid material and great works to be seen, all told from a a street level p.o.v. Well worth the view. Visit -> http://www.channel4.com/ MEGGS x LISTER x KID-ZOOM from itdrewitself on Vimeo. Nice documentary style and some really nice artwork. Notes from Vimeo: “When three renowned Australian street artists all independently visited the UK in June, Very Nearly Almost organised a meet up and invited us to produce a video documenting the day. Featuring Meggs, Lister and Kid Zoom.” Visit -> verynearlyalmost.com Visit -> anthonylister.com Visit [...] There have been a few corporate sponsored attempts in the last couple of years to build up a navigable global collection of graffiti and urban art in general. The first one that I took notice of was a mobile experience created by Adidas called ‘Urban Art Guide’, that experience was followed by a similar experience by Nike [...] I thought this well-filmed video and the actual idea of enhancing one’s bike with an automatic rainbow generating machine was pretty clever. I love that there are people out there spending time building things like this, reminds me a bit of Nike’s Chalk Bot. Makes for a fun view. SleepyCity.net is a super interesting urban photo blog that seems to be based out of London. The photos are very well done and they hit a lot of really untouchable abandoned urban places and spaces that most of our eyes will never see. That’s what I really enjoy about what they’re doing. Documenting. Stop by [...] Flickr is a big part of my world. I check in with it daily, I’ve made really great connections, learned a lot, it’s honestly much more of a social destination than most people consider it to be. One of my favorite contacts is Brooklyn based Jake Dobkin of graffiti arts blog streetsy.com. He’s amassed an [...] Tumblingerstraße from yo man on Vimeo. I grew up playing around with HO scale model railroad sets and building models with my dad. I have a natural love and interest in that kind of thing. Based in Munich, Germany ‘Yo Man’ has taken his model building to another level by not only building amazingly detailed urban [...] Above are a few nice stills from the below short video documentary of one of NYC’s more mysterious hidden underground places called ‘The Freedom Tunnel’ that many New Yorkers may have heard about, but few have actually seen with their own eyes. I really like the degree of contrast and vignette used in these shots, [...] The Fevala painting crew is working on a project called ‘Praça Cantão’ that’s currently taking place in Santa Marta, judging from the photos it’s coming along really well. The scale and overall coverage alone of this community art project makes it an amazing and inspiring feat. Be sure to check out the Fevala site where [...] I ♥ the work of Brooklyn based Kevin Cyr and have posted about his amazing paintings and drawings in the past. It’s good to see that he’s continued to hold steady on his subject matter and has updated his site with more great work. This time he’s added some interesting tones and textures to his [...] The Tel Aviv, Israel based group of graffiti artists known as ‘Broken Fingaz’ have some serious hand skills. I’ve been seeing there work pop up all over lately and after watching their stop motion video below I was pretty amazed and impressed. Their creative approach to stop motion alone demands a ‘must view’ status, not [...] ‘Secret Wars’ is a world wide art competition where talented urban artists represent their individual countries. The competition travels from one destination to another where the artists render their creations side by side in front of a large audience, from the pics on the ‘Secret Wars’ website it looks to be quite the traveling party [...] Digital Graffiti at the Olympic Village from Alex Beim on Vimeo. This is a nice, vivid digital graffiti wall created by tangibleinteraction.com using openframeworks.cc as seen in the Olympic Village. Definitely well executed and worth a view. Be sure to visit Tangible Interaction’s website to check out some of the other work they’ve produced for the [...] I really dig the graphic nature and urban graffiti stylings by ‘El Pez’. His work takes on a very disruptive character and emanates an overall good vibe that I find to be a lot of fun to study. Great line work, very much in the same vein of genius that I get from the ‘London [...] |
