The photography of Portland, Oregon based Delaney Allen is brilliant. Fantastic cloudscapes, rogue waves, mundane objects in extraordinary environments and even still moments that pull at one’s emotional heartstrings. It’s all there. Most of my skiing experience prior to this year has come from the east coast. So, as you can guess I’ve been very excited to get in on the pacific northwest flavor of the sport. The best part about living in Seattle is that big mountain access is only a couple short hours away by [...] I’ve been following Brooklyn, NY based photographer Steph Goralnick on Flickr for a while now. Her photos are always amazingly candid, full of style and stand-out personality. Recently she posted an unbelievable collection of monotone night captures taken during one of New York’s unusually harsh winter storms… so nice! Taken with a Canon 40D by using some pretty interesting panning techniques that I don’t fully understand, his images become surreal and abstract works of art. I love these examples for their clean lines and bold color, he’s got some other [...] L.A. designer/artist known as ‘9 0 0 0′ continues to crank out a broad array of stimulating design on his Flickr stream. These graphic works appeared on my ‘latest photos’ from my contacts feed last night, and for some reason they just stuck in my mind till this morning. With these, and with his other [...] Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg (founders of: http://flowingmedia.com/) used a clever algorithm that they developed for the WIRED Anniversary visualization and a collection of photographs from the Boston Common Flickr stream to create the stunning graphic visualization above. In the short description, their software calculated the relative proportions of different colors from various photos taken [...] While browsing some of my favorite Flickr contacts last night I came across some new stuff by Brooklyn based photographer Timothy McGurr aka ’13th Witness’ and decided to post some of them. His work is consistently captivating, diverse, memorable… and he always manages to capture the most genuine of moments.
