We are Wild -> Emerging Photographers

‘We are wild’ is a great destination to discover emerging photographers. You get a good glimpse into their world as well as a bit of a story behind each mind that is producing the fantastic work. Above are some of my favorite shots from the Elizabeth Weinberg collection. So many amazing artists to discover, such [...]

Society6.com -> JHSINDESIGN

This past week I decided to check out the Society6 artist’s community/storefront. I have been shopping around for an online print and frame service for some of my photography anyway, so I decided, why not try a service that also connects artists together, similar to how the Blurb DIY book service does? So far, I [...]

Frame Rate Fest IE9/HTML 5 -> Microsoft

Microsoft created this designer/developer community site as a way to promote IE9 and also to showcase creative use of HTML 5. I like the overall ‘Tronish’ site design, the bold color palette and the general idea behind it’s purpose… It will be interesting to see what people submit.

Chromaroma Visualisations -> Mudlark

Chromaroma Visualisations from Mudlark on Vimeo.

This visualization ‘game’ is powered by one’s Oyster Card in and out of the London Tube. It records your movements and trips as well as tracking others, as a result promoting more use and exploration. At the very least the rendering is a visual treat. Have a look.

TheSixtyOne -> Music Discovery

New music discovery site ‘TheSixtyOne’ is kind of like a ‘digg’ only specifically for new music. Once you log in you can listen to an endless assortment of new indie tracks, watch videos, rate and develop a ‘reputation’ and share your new favorite bands with others. The design is pretty slick and I like the full [...]

Dell’s Motherboard.tv -> Beta Version

Along the same vein as other group/community blogs (like http://spacecollective.org/ below) this grid-based designed blog ‘Motherboard’ designed by http://www.area17.com/ and sponsored by Dell Corporation focuses on technology, art/design, gaming, environment and a category they call ‘wonderful’ which is pretty much a catch-all for things that are… wonderful I guess. At first glance the content seems [...]

SpaceCollective.org -> A Place For Forward Thinking Terrestrials

It’s not everyday that you come across a website so interesting and so inspiring that you lose complete track of time, forget to make dinner and do the upcoming week’s laundry. That’s pretty much where I found myself the other evening after clicking through some of the content and postings on Spacecollective.org. SpaceCollective.org is [...]

Indaba -> Collaborative Music Community

A few months ago I posted about an online music tool/community called Hobnox, that allows it’s users to collaborate, record and share their creations via an Adobe Flash based synthesizer setup. Indaba does pretty much the same thing only the interface is more like an online track based Pro-Tools or Garage band, which is great [...]

Doodlers Anonymous -> Drawing Network

I love the premise of this online network of Doodlers. It’s a great way to share, compare and collaborate sketch phase ideas amongst friends who share the same doodling addiction. From ‘About’ page -> “Doodlers Anonymous was founded to celebrate our addiction, and like any other, we’re hooked. The need to draw, sketch, and doodle [...]

iPhone Art -> Apps/Trends

All the above pieces of art were created with the iPhone. Believe it or not. The iPhone has yet again delivered another new interesting sub-cultural trend and a surprisingly useful technology for artists and illustrators. A few months ago I posted about the ‘New Yorker Magazine’ cover rendered completely by iPhone by artist/illustrator Jorge Colombo. [...]

The Air Trees of Madrid

Even though the outside appearance of the “air trees” seems to be right out of a mid 40′s sci-fi flick, it’s what happens on the inside of them that counts the most. Right? This interesting design/concept from Madrid provides a way to revitalize and repopulate urban environments with fresh air, moisture, entertainment and energy. Perfect [...]

Random Thoughts on Big Business and Graffiti Art

I think we have all started to recognize a trend in the last few years . It seems that many celebrities, artists and businesses from around the globe have begun to reverse their thoughts and behaviors. They have become less selfish for the most part and have started to take notice of the importance of [...]
