It’s definitely on par with what OK GO has smartly conjured up for themselves in the past, actually, this may be my new favorite video from them. I’m feeling the retro horns, break-beats and the relevant lyrics, as well as the subtle but interesting visual effects added in by director ‘Special Problems‘. From a graphic + effects perspective this video has it all and is really interesting. The rather robust women on pocket rockets with [...] Today’s 34th ‘Midweek Music Bump‘ is by the over-adrenalized ‘Vampire Weekend’ cranking out a track called ‘Cousins’ in a back alley in what looks to be in NYC somewhere. I’m feeling this track b/c it’s super energetic and exactly what I need to get me through this week as I travel all over the damn [...] Today’s 33rd ‘Midweek Music Bump‘ is by Brooklyn based chamber pop choir boys ‘Grizzly Bear’ with their melodramatic + atmospheric track ‘Ready, Able’. The surreal story told by the stop motion animation was beautifully rendered and directed by artist Allison Schulnik fitting the songs mood perfectly. That’s why I’ve selected this track for this week’s [...] Today’s 32nd ‘Midweek Music Bump‘ is by the amazing LA based ‘Mayer Hawthorne’ with his heartbreaking track ‘Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out’. As we all know, things often change in life. Relationships, bowling partners and sometimes things as insignificant as your hairstyle. In the end it’s what keeps life interesting, and as the Mayer say’s [...] It’s been a while since I’ve been excited by any new drum&bass/electronica, but this stuff coming from UK based ‘Hudson Mohawke’ is explosively good. ‘Hudson Mohawke’ is comprised of a pretty large group of djs, synth heads and beat analysts -> Anthony Chopkins, John Computer, Itchy, Hudson Mo, Hudson_Mobile, Kirk T, Peter Quistguard, Mo-Mac, Conan [...] Today’s 31st ‘Midweek Music Bump‘ is by one of my all time fav’s ‘Yo La Tengo’ (out of Hoboken, New Jersey) with their live rendition of ‘Here to Fall’. I have always enjoyed their experimental ways and heady vibes. I actually like this live version more than the studio version. Good stuff from folks with [...] Today’s 30th ‘Midweek Music Bump‘ is by Paris, France based band ‘The Parisians’ called ‘Time For Nothing More’. Directed by Nicolas Davenel and Thomas Delebecque, visual effects by Vincent Papaix. This dizzying frame by frame video is littered with interesting moments as you reverse through endless scapes that range from urban to countryside. ♥ the [...] Today’s 29th ‘Midweek Music Bump‘ is by UK band ‘We Have Band’ called ‘You Came Out’.
