One of the more inspiring portfolios that I have seen in a long time is coming from France based design duo Thomas Couderc & Clément Vauchez. Everything from photo composite fine art prints to beautifully designed, energetic typography poster concepts, their portfolio site is a great destination to harvest some fresh ideas. Visit -> http://www.helmo.fr/ I’m having a lot of fun keeping up with Flickr contact and SoCal based designer Dirk Dallas lately on his photo stream. The majority of his colorful and atmospheric shots were taken with his iPhone and modified with various apps. He’s got a ton of fresh photos to check out. Nice way to discover apps [...] You have to check out Todd Mclellan’s incredible photo set titled ‘Disassembly’ on his portfolio site. His arrangements range from being well organized and static, to energetic depictions of ‘in-the-moment’ explosions of classic and vintage objects. I like that they remind us of the complexity that lies within objects that we typically take for granted. Visit [...] This is a very nice documentary and interview of street artists Supakitch and Koralie for the website of the markers brand ‘Posca’. His special attention to light and shadow really amplify the illusion of these being actual physical realities, making them a pleasure to browse through. There are many more creations like these to be found on his portfolio site [...] This creepy set of long exposure photos was created ‘light painting‘ style by using the animation from the ethically criticized photography project called the Visible Human Project that you may have heard news of back in 1993. Basically, the creators (Concept & Art Direction: Croix Gagnon, Photography: Frank Schott) captured these silky ghosts by playing [...] Chicago based artist and gallery curator David “Netherland” van Alphen is the creator of these wonderfully obscure 1970s charged collage works. Consistent in theme and playfully nostalgic, his site makes for an entertaining and inspirational place to click around. You can also purchase some of his prints here. It was created for energy company Endesa as the cornerstone of their Christmas celebrations [...] I love these unkempt urban dioramas by Lori Nix. Above are just three examples of a larger set from her portfolio site called ‘The City’. Instead of going out and finding these spaces in real life she meticulously renders each one as a three dimensional model, and then beautifully photographs them. I’m pretty blown away [...] I came across some fairly new works by Simon Page on his Flickr stream yesterday, which then led me to his Behance page. Apparently, he’s been working hard on a lot of album covers. The above covers were all inspired by ‘simply listening to the music’, as he states on his Behance project page. The [...] If you have a second to spare today and you enjoy retro-classic illustration and typography, you should check out Belgium based designer Veerle Pieters’s ‘inspiration stream’. She’s taken the time to curate a nice collection of retro-kitche works by various designers and artists. Her entire site is a great place to click around for inspiration. View [...] An old friend of mine from back east (NYC) turned me on to this Minneapolis based band called ‘Cloud Cult’ recently. If you like the eclectic and textured sounds of bands like The Broken Social Scene, The Deadly Syndrome and Grizzly Bear, I think you may find Cloud Cult to be to your liking as well. [...] I guess this has turned out to be a two-part post… One part, to bring attention to a new iPhone/Pad/Touch app called Poolga, that is a great source for illustration and designed wallpapers. Really nice works from some very talented designers and artists can be downloaded through the Poolga app right to your device.
