My buddy Jamey Erickson is always up to something interesting and fun. Whether launching weather balloons to take pictures of the outer stratosphere, prepping for his next outrageous Halloween costume (I’ll spare you the visuals) or just coming up with interesting ways to make his Minneapolis based design studio Sevnthsin an inspiring place to work… he’s bubbling [...]

Roughly this time last year I posted about a diverse online/web radio station called 22Tracks. The station is fueled by a select group of Amsterdam DJ’s, and they’ve been keeping it going strong all year. So strong, that today, I was psyched to discover on ilovenewwork.com that they have released an iPhone app that functions [...]

I guess this has turned out to be a two-part post… One part, to bring attention to a new iPhone/Pad/Touch app called Poolga, that is a great source for illustration and designed wallpapers. Really nice works from some very talented designers and artists can be downloaded through the Poolga app right to your device. The [...]

My ‘old school’ pal from way back in the the day when most of our time was spent trying to score change to play video games (arcade games, the kind you stood in front of at a mall) sent me this link yesterday with one simple statement attached -> “this is why you want to [...]

Above are a few of my favorite pics from this past week that I took with my iPhone 3Gs. I used the ‘Plastic Bullet’ app from software company ‘Red Giant’ to add the interesting border effects and vignette treatment. ‘Plastic Bullet’ has quickly become my favorite filtering tool over ‘hipstamatic’ because I think the overall look [...]

eBoy FixPix [iPhone] – Preview from CreativeApplications.Net on Vimeo.
I’ve been a fan of eBoy since they emerged from a different planet in 1997. I remember how unique their style of stacking pixels seemed to me at the time. Now, unless you’ve been living in a pixel-less cave somewhere their work has become fairly common and [...]

LoKast is what people are calling a ‘disposable social net’ and was revealed last week at SXSW in Austin. What makes it “disposable” is that you can connect temporarily with the people around you and carry on social interactions such as content sharing and other common activities like voting, chat, flirting, debating… broadcasting yourself in [...]

This is a smart campaign coming from New Balance. Tagging on to the whole ‘Lifetracking 365′ trend, they’ll be posting daily content for an entire year for people to check in and check out. I’m totally aware of what a huge undertaking this will be for them after watching my wife go through her own 365 [...]

A conglomerate of talented folks and organizations e.g., -> NewWorkers, Naldisney and AKQA are set to launch an interesting new (FREE) iPhone app for Nike called ‘True City’… seems to be along the same vein of thought that Adidas explored with it’s ‘Urban Art Guide’ app that launched in spring 2009. Looks like a great concept and an equally nice execution, [...]

This is a great app for all the “type heads” out there who like to challenge their font identification skills. ‘The Font Game’ contains a gorgeous catalog of about 657 different fonts. You can ‘tweet’ your scores for all to see, reveal the answers and even post your rank to the prestigious ‘The Font Game’ [...]

Apple isn’t kidding when they say “there’s an app for that” in their iPhone app store campaign. The problem is that there really are about a zillion apps out there, if you’re like me you like to try a lot of them out and sometimes have a hard time keeping a clean app house on [...]

Ghostly Discovery from Ghostly International on Vimeo.
‘Ghostly Discovery’ is a streaming radio station and mood-based music discovery tool. This free app for the iPhone and iPod Touch lets you listen to the Ghostly International and Spectral Sound catalogs (full songs, nothing less) and share your favorites with friends. I really enjoy the simple interface and [...]

All the above pieces of art were created with the iPhone. Believe it or not. The iPhone has yet again delivered another new interesting sub-cultural trend and a surprisingly useful technology for artists and illustrators. A few months ago I posted about the ‘New Yorker Magazine’ cover rendered completely by iPhone by artist/illustrator Jorge Colombo. [...]

Clever innovators Paul Rawlings and Paul Kinlan from Vooices.us have created another interesting voice service, this time it taps into popular social platform FriendFeed. In short once you have logged into FriendBoo’s service (on your computer or mobile device) with your pass-code you can then record your message and it will appear for all to [...]

This ambitious music editing app places synthesizers, samplers, effects and audio recording right in the palm of your hand. The interface and overall design was inspired by retro synthesizers and samplers and seems fairly simple to use judging from the above video. More information on the FingerBeat website:
