inFORM -> Dynamic Shape Display

inFORM – Interacting With a Dynamic Shape Display from Tangible Media Group on Vimeo.

This amazing new technology coming from MIT’s Tangible Media Group allows users to literally reach through the screen and interact with physical objects.

Notes from Vimeo page:

“inFORM is a Dynamic Shape Display that can render 3D content physically, so users can interact with digital information in a tangible way. inFORM can also interact with the physical world around it, for example moving objects on the table’s surface. Remote participants in a video conference can be displayed physically, allowing for a strong sense of presence and the ability to interact physically at a distance.”

The Paper Kites -> Young

The Paper Kites: Young from Oh Yeah Wow on Vimeo.

They say you can help prevent the oncoming of seasickness by keeping your eyes glued to the horizon. I found myself using a similar method while watching this video by the Paper Kites, and tried to maintain focus on the nose area. It’s a bit dizzying, but beautiful all the same. 7 days to shoot 350+ faces, 10 days to assemble 4000+ photos. Great track as well.

London Symphony Orchestra -> HD Online Performances

LSO

This multiple camera HD viewing experience, created by the London Symphony Orchestra, makes for an interesting and entertaining way to explore the symphony in action. The ‘explore the orchestra’ area is especially nice because it allows you to discover the many instruments as well as the individual symphony members. Perfect for educational use.

Jamie Boud -> Race of Gentlemen photos

Jamie_Boud

Filed under ‘the coolest thing I’ve seen all week’. A good friend passed along this fantastic photo set captured by Jamie Boud documenting the 2nd Annual Race of Gentlemen, that occurs in good ol’ Wildwood N.J. Go Jersey! From the looks of it, I may have to jump on a plane back east to see the race with my own eyes in 2014.

Future of The Airline Website? -> FI case study

Is This The Future of The Airline Website? from Fantasy Interactive on Vimeo.

This is an interesting case study by experience design agency, FI (Fantasy Interactive), exploring the ideal state of online travel booking and planning. With so many travel sites being a cluttered, difficult, high stress experience, this seems to be a breath of fresh air. A concept well worth scrolling through. (via ilovenewwork.com)

Box -> Projection Mapping

Box from Bot & Dolly on Vimeo.

This is one of the best projection mapping efforts that I’ve seen in some time. Typically, projection mapping takes place on a fixed object and evolves on that canvas alone, static position. In this video, the canvas is in motion, the camera is in motion, and the projection transcends the usual boundaries of our expectations. It’s an amazing spectacle for sure.

Fesson Ludovic -> Natural Sculpture

landart

In a world where the temptation to overbuild, overcomplicate, and overthink, comes all too easy, I find Jargeau, France based artist, Fesson Ludovic’s land art to be refreshing. The simple surprise that comes from bringing basic order to organic elements in their own natural environment really delivers, both visually and conceptually. Many more examples of his relentless exploration beyond the link.

Thalmic Labs -> Wearable Gesture Control

MYO by Thalmic Labs seems to have limitless capabilities. Nice wearable gestural solution, all based on muscle flex response and position …one to keep an eye on. In many ways, it’s like using “the force”. May the force be with you.
