Cannondale has partnered with designer Wytze Van Mansum to produce this innovative new woman’s bicycle called the ‘Dutchess’. The most noticeable design enhancement is the crank system, breaking free from a traditional exposed sprocket this ‘integrated transmission’ system is concealed by the organic frame tubing and all gears live within the back hub. I’m sure the intent was to prevent any potential for a woman’s pant leg or skirt to get caught on an oily chain. Nicely designed and very elegant in a appearance. More information via the link below.

Looks like a good idea as long as the drive change components can either be accessed for repair or have extreemly long lifespans. When I was cycling a lot I found that the rear gears wore down and needed replacing.
