I took notice of this campaign on the Creative Review.co.uk’s website last week. At first I was kind of feeling underwhelmed, but after letting the idea render in my head for a while I’ve decided it is a pretty innovative digital marketing approach even if there are very few exposures to be had from it. England’s ‘Editors’ have placed themselves into Google maps ‘Street View’ in a series of interesting night shots by photographer James Royall in order to pump up the excitement around their new album release. I don’t think the expectation or intent was to reach a billion people through this concept, instead, to create some mystique and a sense of innovation and relevancy to the band. Regardless, pretty interesting marketing tactics.
