Similar to how a bat detects objects while in flight, this iPhone app called Sonar Ruler sends out sound clicks and measures the time it takes to return to its microphone, then displaying a fairly accurate distance reading. Pretty sharp. I wonder how this technology will evolve? Could make for some interesting uses for the visually impaired.
