Leave it to www.colectiva.tv find some of the best animated gifs in cyber space. This one was posted on their site in celebration of the upcoming weekend. I strongly support that notion as it has been a very difficult week. Thanks Colectiva, I hope you don’t mind me tagging on to this idea. I hope [...]

I’ve decided to take a new graphic approach with my online portfolio as it was in dire need of an update and some house cleaning. I’m still adding and subtracting to the design work and my artwork but it’s coming together and has taken a pretty radical change so I thought I would throw out [...]

The photography of Nick Meek feels quirky, sometimes random and classically retro. Some his imagery makes me think of days camping in the 70′s as a kid and other images place me on some far off remote planet. You almost never know what your going to get as you click through his works. I think [...]

I’m not sure what to think of this short film ‘Truck Farm’ by a group called ‘Wicked Delicate’. I suppose the idea is to show how easy it can be to plant a farm in a big city, with limited space and in a gas guzzling truck? However, the trailer did it’s job and has [...]

This is yet another excellent example of 3d image mapping technology, this time taking place in Hamburg. The building’s surface takes on many different shapes and forms in a very realistic looking visual effect that is definitely worth watching.
Notes from Vimeo:
The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture – the theoretic conception [...]

Voltage from Bam Studio on Vimeo.
This animated short was directed by Filippe Lyra e William Paiva and produced by Barros Melo Animation Studio. Nicely animated modular synthesizer robots connect with each other to make explosive sound. Literally. Makes for an interesting view.
Notes from Vimeo:
Just like modular synthesizers, people connect with each other in [...]

This short film produced by French designers from H5 called ‘Logorama’ explores how logos have become more and more a part of our everyday lives, to the point at which we as a culture have become overwhelmed and inundated with branding. Complete with natural disasters and a dash of the fantastic and absurd, ‘Logorama’ has [...]

Designer James Perse has come up with some pretty sharp surfboard/paddleboard designs as part of a limited edition collection. These boards are classically designed and hand shaped by one of SoCal’s most reputable retro shapers from the 60′s. Available in sizes 7ft through 9ft 6″ and in the three color options shown above (white, [...]

Bas Jan Ader was a Dutch conceptual artist, performance artist, photographer and filmmaker. As much as he was all of those things he was also a mystery to many of us. His works primarily consisted of odd scenarios captured as short film performance pieces. One of his most popular was called ‘I’m too sad to [...]

Today’s 17th ‘Midweek Music Bump’ is a track called ‘Whachadoin’ by the digitally inclined duo ‘N.A.S.A.’. This video is right on trend and packed full of vivid color, surreal scenery and swaying ladies with composite limbs and heads. It’s a visual trip not to be missed. That’s why it’s this week’s ‘Midweek Music Bump’. Enjoy [...]

Projection on Buildings from NuFormer Digital Media on Vimeo.
This is another gorgeous example of 3D video mapping projection by Netherlands based design firm NuFormer Digital Media. This is probably the best example that I have seen of object projection on a building’s exterior. There is one point at which hundreds of tiny balls are are [...]

Emil Kozak is an amazing designer and illustrator from Barcelona, Spain. He’s worked on projects for Nike, Vans, Kelly Slater, Hulger, Zune and many others. His bold creative stylings are hugely disruptive and always fresh. I find myself going back to his site often to get ideas. If you haven’t checked out his work I [...]

We’ve all seen Honda’s ASIMO humanoid robot in action. Until recently ASIMO has seen little competition in the robot space. Until now -> Toyota’s humanoid robot prototype is 130cm tall and weighs 50Kgr. Its legs have 7 degrees of freedom and it can run at an average speed of 7 km/h. ASIMO’s maximum speed is [...]

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to catch up with a designer/illustrator friend of mine Pat Smith at board and skate shop Cal-Surf in Minneapolis to check out some of his new work. He’s done some great stuff for Nike, Cal-Surf and various other skate culture related projects in the past. He’s not afraid [...]
