Apparently someone leaked photos of the attractive new Olympus E-P1 over the weekend (set for official release tomorrow). Intentional or not, I’m pretty excited about these images that I first found on EnGadget.com. The Olympus E-P1 Micro Four Thirds System uses an 18 x 13.5-mm sensor but will decrease camera body size by 50% by allowing the removal of the mirror box. In an older blog post about compact camera trends I spoke of the likelihood that camera designs would start to trend towards the old retro Lomo-esque sub compact look from the 1950s and 60s. Here we see that trend start to really take hold, and quite nicely in my opinion. Set to release in multiple colors this camera is sure to be a hit. Below are some of the specs I could find:
- 17mm lens with an interchangeable 14-42mm (3x) zoom lens
- Range Finder Camera Body
- DSLR-sized sensor
- 12.3 Megapixel
- M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f2.8 Silver Lens
- Micro Four Thirds tribute to the classic rangefinder
- $899.99 estimated retail
