PaperTweet3d: Augmented Reality T-shirt from squidder on Vimeo.
Today I was fortunate enough to share some fantastic Sushi over lunch with two of my friends. All of us being involved with digital creativity/marketing, we naturally found ourselves gabbing on-and-on about all of our latest digital discoveries. My friend brought up her discovery of a live feed twitter T-shirt, powered by augmented reality. I thought instantly of an old song by one of my favorite bands “they Might Be Giants” “I Palindrome I”. I think it had something to do with the idea that in this super-nerdalicious T-shirt scenario, you have one technology reaching into reality (to the shirt) to gather information in order to have that information then be sucked back into a computer and projected on screen via-augmented reality to complete the experience. You following? On top of that it could be the T-shirt owner’s own Twitter feed. On top of that, hand that person an iPhone and have him update their Twitter feed while wearing the shirt and that person may be the first person to subjected to time travel, or sucked into a worm hole, or just be the most intensely connected digital user ever. All this brought me to thinking about the song and particularly these lryics:
And I am a snake head eating (snake head) The head on the opposite side (snake head)
I’m not sure that makes a whole lot of sense to you but it seems to make sense to me and it gives me the opportunity to post a “They Might Be Giants” video on the site, on a Friday no less. So I’m happy. I have posted some related links below the video. Enjoy:
